Well said indeed.

I so want to see The Fountain. I've said before...it's the one film out this year that I truly wanted to see. Alas, having a newborn at home makes it difficult to get out these days.

Perhaps, if it's still playing locally, there is a possibility of seeing it Saturday.

Maybe.

Its a nice day in NYC, but cold. And getting colder.

I can hear the construction from the next block through the closed window as I finish up my work for the day, I can say hello to you and all the JSto fans out there, I can see the black sky and my daughter's Sleepy Time music is playing as my wife puts her to sleep.

Sometimes we talk about actually getting the Christmas list done, then we look at each other and the stack of baby laundry... "Sigh."

As Captain Picard once said, "Wishing for a thing doesn't make it so."

What is the old saying? There are people who watch things happen, people who make things happen, and people who wonder what happened.

Here's to making things happen.

Maybe. One of the wisest of words. And of attitudes.
Although, quoting Nietzsche, "To exercise power costs effort and demands courage. That is why so many fail to assert rights to which they are perfectly entitled - because a right is a kind of power but they are too lazy or too cowardly to exercise it. The virtues which cloak these faults are called patience and forbearance."

Which is to say: sometimes accepting simplicity can be a way of giving up, taking the easy way simply because it is easier, not necessarily better, or better for us. Simplicity may become an excuse rather than an explanation.

We must take things more cheerfully than they deserve; especially since we have for a long time taken them more seriously than they deserve. Thus speak brave soldiers of knowledge."

Excellent story. Though I've used such phrases as 'good luck' and 'bad luck' I've never really believed in either concept. As an athiest and a follower of the scientific method I tend not to take on such simplified views of the world. As such, that story has a lot of appeal to me.

As for The Fountain, I have a couple AMC movie passes I'm well considering using for the film as soon as it becomes eligible.

It was 19 degrees this morning in NYC. We're now all the way up to 25, with a wind chill around 20.

Sure wish I was sailing in the Caribbean right now!!

The Spirit rover was kept online (awake) just to get a look at the setting sun from Mars.
something beautiful about a robot on an alien planet watching the sunset for us.
