In some fairness, I would like to say that all sweepstakes/contests don't work out this way. It depends on who is managing the contest.

Sure, taxes need to be taken care of, but everything else should be covered and arranged with the help of the contest management company. They should also be checking in with you regularly to make sure everything is gooing smooth, and if not, helping rectify the situation.

But, if whoever this contest was put on through were cheap bastards, thats just bad PR for them.

In situations like this what makes it even worse is how much you are looking forward to something only to be disappointed. It is one thing to have a bad trip, it is another to really be looking forward to a trip and have it be bad.

And, it's too bad you're not from Canada because we don't pay taxes on contest/casino/lottery winnings of any kind...

The trip wasn't "awful"...
1)I did the fedex thing and it cost me $25 bucks (yes I was embarrassed about that after the event).
2)I even thought the jean thing was weird and I'm from Maine... I didn't know about the $150 rule...
3) I never got an email but I probably didn't give them my real email address because that's for suckas
4)And I got to meet C.Sto and J.Sto- Also got to watch C.Sto kill some guy (no joke).

More like, "missed adventure". That's so sad. Dude, I would have been right and proper pissed. I would not have gone quietly into that night, considering what was promised and not delivered. Nevermind the out of pocket loss.
The atmosphere in which you experience something is an important and often underestimated influence on your opinion and appreciation of that experience. As awesome as Crossroads 2 is, that debacle-- no, that travesty-- would have effectively ruined the episode for me until I could see it again under better conditions. Not only was their sloppiness disrepsectful to the winners, but to BSG.
I suppose it helped to have C.Sto there.
